How Long Does It Take To Learn Spanish?
I am often asked, “how long does it take to learn Spanish?” I am afraid that this is largely a million-dollar question and one for which there is no generic answer.
Unfortunately there are simply way too many variables involved, in that so much depends on how much effort a student is willing to put into studying the language, and also which technique or program they’ll be using. Add to that the indisputable fact that while some scholars may choose to use the services of a private tutor, others will select a classroom environment instead. In fact, some students will rather choose using one or other home study program which gets use out of books, multimedia, software, and audio recordings. You also have to ask yourself whether or not the person will be learning the language in a land where it’s spoken as the native language, or whether they will be learning it in their home country. Similarly, the quality of a program or the expertise of a teacher will also influence the outcome.
Because these variables will have such a direct result on how long does it take to learn Spanish, it is simply not possible to provide a simple answer to this question. In reality, I have personally known individuals who after half a year, managed to communicate confidently in conversational Spanish, but also , I’ve met people who have studied the Spanish language for a few years, admittedly on an on and off basis, and yet after many years they can barely get by.
Rather than attempting to provide a simple response to this question, I’d prefer to discuss what I feel to be the quickest way of learning Spanish. The most important step of all, is for a student to seize every available opportunity regarding interacting in the language they would like to learn, regardless of what language that might be.
While you definitely do get people who are firm followers of the classroom approach, I actually feel it takes too long unless it is done in association with another technique. To my mind, a self study system of high quality is by far superior in that it allows a student to proceed at their own pace rather than being tied down to the average classroom pace. This is very true with regards to students who are really serious about learning a language.
In this situation, I would suggest a student to select a reputable program which includes a range of audio lessons, multimedia lessons, and naturally, written Spanish. In addition, they should select a program which allows for lessons to be downloaded onto a mobile device so that the student can listen on their iPod as an example. Remember, if you’re serious about learning a language, then you should shoot at having the ability to not only speak it and write it, but also to read it and understand it. Unless a program covers all four of these areas, it needs to be avoided or at least, you’ll require some additional material.
As you may have already heard, Rocket Spanish is an extremely popular program, and not without reason. Considering that it addresses all four of the area’s mentioned, it has gained a name for providing students with a first[ class foundation for basic Spanish which in turn will make sure that you’re able to speak confidently in Spanish inside a comparatively short space of time. Similarly, Rosetta Stone is known to be quite as good, in that it also addresses the four areas mentioned above. Furthermore, it is available in two versions so that people can select between the “Spain” version and the South American Spanish version. Judging by testimonials, it would appear that the Rosetta Stone program takes a touch longer to work thru, which of course means it’ll take you a little longer before you develop conversational Spanish but generally, it ranks right up there with Rocket Spanish. Also, Rosetta Stone is significantly more expensive.
As you can see, there are too many variables involved for me or anyone else to be ready to give a simple response with regards to “how long does it takes to learn Spanish. However, you’ve doubtless also gathered by this time that there are a few things you can do in order to hurry up the process. In fact, many students go as far as using both the programs discussed in conjunction with each other in order to develop conversational abilities as fast as possible. However, unless you are continuously exposed to the Spanish language, no program will be capable of making you 100 % fluent. On the other hand, providing you are at an intermediate-to-advanced level, you might want to consider subscribing to Puerta del Sol Audio magazine which is a Spanish language abilities Magazine. Additionally, you’d be stunned at just how much you can benefit from joining a Meetup group in your area that concentrates on learning the Spanish language.
Surviving the Current Financial Situation
In the current climate of apparent worldwide financial meltdown there are many businesses who will not survive. There are some who will not only survive but will benefit from the misfortune of others. However for the majority it is a question of surviving and getting through it. If your business is on a sound financial foundation and you have money in the bank (Providing your bank is not one that has gone under!) then this will be beneficial in the coming months. So we are back to good old cash flow and monitoring of the financial position.
You may even be able to reduce employee salaries for a period of time, rather than redundancies, with a promise of bonuses when things recover. This is what JCB in Britain have done recently.
Tighten your Belt - Eliminate Fancy Spending
Eliminate unnecessary spending, no perks on the business such as dinners to woo customers. They rarely actually need it if your business is offering honest value for money and top class services, and in most cases customers and prospects will appreciate you being prudent if it means you stay in business and continue as their valued suppliers. In the past there was no such thing as ecommerce web design and look what the Victorians did with the limited resources they had at their disposal.
Managing directors lead the way by paying yourself less and tighten your own belt. There is nothing worse than asking other people to manage on less when you are not prepared to yourself.
Avoid buying anything unless you absolutely have to. It’s amazing how you can manage without something for a period of time by using up existing stocks and making sure that waste is reduced to an absolute minimum.
Look for Discounts in Purchasing.
When you do have to procure goods to run the business, make sure you look out for bargains or negotiate for a better deal than you may have achieved previously. When times are tough, sales with no profits are better than nothing and there are some good deals to be had. One company I recently heard about sold a house for half the price when a customer came along with a cash offer. In our SEO business we found that we had a lot of server hosting accounts and through careful consolidation we were able to save in excess of £3,000 a year. This just by doing a careful audit, moving a few websites and closing down servers that were old and not fully utilised.
By reviewing all of your business overheads you will be able to identify areas similar to ours where you ordinarily spend a fair amount of your revenue and profits and it is not until there is an economic downturn or some loss of business that you question if that spending is really necessary. So in many ways the current economic climate is a good thing, and most really successful businesses realise this and constantly review costs, even when times are good.
Do Your Clients have Financial Stability?
Find out the financial viability of your best customers. When the income of a customer falls then their ability to purchase goods and services is affected. If they are able to pay, then you will be able to pay your suppliers. There is nothing worse than doing a lot of work or selling a lot of stock to customer and then not getting paid. Situations like this can often cost you money, and that is the road to financial ruin, so be sure to be aware of your client’s economic situation as best as possible. We use the free Dunn and Bradstreet financial tracking service to identify any negative changes registered against any of our major clients
A customer of ours who are a team of town planning consultants were lucky their business was very healthy with good cash flow when a large customer went into liquidation owing about £10,000. This was a lot of money to lose but their business was very healthy financially and they survived.
Don’t Borrow Money
When the world is in a financial crisis it is better not to borrow money if you can help it. If you have already borrowed significant sums of money then make sure you talk to your bank and get the best deal on repayments you can. If it’s possible to repay a chunk of money do so to reduce the interest you are paying out. To me interest is money going out for nothing in return and this is not good money management. Having said all that, the interest rate in America is just over 1% and recently rates have been radically reduced in the UK. But that in itself is what caused this whole financial mess in the first place. People borrow money cheaply then re-lend it at a higher rate of interest and take the difference in profit. Once the interest rate rises to a more normal level they will bail out and take their billions off to buy an island somewhere while everyone else pays the price.
Stay in a Positive Mode
By this I do not mean be in denial and pretend the world is not going through a financial challenge. But if you are continually thinking and worrying about the negative aspects of the financial situation, then you are likely to make it come true. Don’t forget you get what you wish for and by concentrating on something then it will work like a wish, so why not concentrate on ways of getting new customers, giving better value to your existing customers and how your company could offer new products or services to your existing customer base?
You Only Have to Survive
The world financial situation at the moment, I realise, is much more complicated than is indicated above. But the simple ways of dealing with crisis can often be the best option. Cut everything down to the bone and think about the days when people did not have such complicated lives. They managed their businesses without an advisor for tax advice , a water cooler, coffee machines and other such luxuries that we often take for granted. They made do by either doing extra work themselves or just going without. Obviously as your business grows, or recovers, it doesn’t become economically viable to sit and trawl through tax return forms or to have to do a lot of extra research and administration yourself, so you can restore those facilities that help to make you money once you have recovered your initial position.
Conclusion
Now I am not suggesting that we should go back to the good old days. What I am saying is that we might think we can’t manage without all our gimmicks but the reality is that we can do more with a great deal less, as long as we put ourselves into the right frame of mind and think positively about what we can achieve rather than what we haven’t got. Good luck for a prosperous future.
The Definitive Guide To Printed Flags
Introduction
When you think of the term printed flags do you think of the crowds of people standing at the roadside while the Queen goes by waving little flags like mad? Well believe it or not, today paper flags are big business! Can you believe our company makes millions of them every year for all kinds of firms such as theatres, building societies, councils, garages, and estate agents not to mention charities and supporters clubs.
I gave my last printed flag to a little boy called Anthony (you know who you are!) and you should have seen his face light up. Of course he ran off waving it like crazy!
Paper flags can be printed on one or both sides and are attached to a plastic stick so they can be held in the hand for waving in a crowd. These paper flags are colourful, attractive, and economical. They have become really popular, particularly over last few years, just try not to wave one as soon as it is given to you!
Some of the great advantages of these printed paper flags as promotional items is that they are environmentally friendly, really cost effective to create, and everyone loves waving them. Compared to other much more costly branded products, gifts or marketing giveaways they are always a great success. The number of re-orders we get is testament to that!
History of Paper Flags
Paper did not appear in the western world until the early 1300s so it would have been some time later that the earliest know form of paper flags were cut out of paper. These were usually religious in character and today, thousands of colourful cut-paper flags which depict various mythological and religious figures are produced in China for annual festivals. Can you remember when you were small cutting rows of patterns, sometimes figures of girls or boys from folded paper? This is the handed down tradition of Scherenschnitte which is the German for “scissors” cutting, which is often translated as “silhouette” a practise which became popular in Austria in the seventeenth century. From this time a whole tradition of cut paper craft has evolved around the world, such as the shadow puppets of Indonesia and the common tissue-paper flags of Mexico known as Papel Picado.
Current Usage
Children particularly enjoy waving flags during festivals, shows or exhibitions. Paper flags however are more commonly used today to advertise and promote sporting events, fund raising projects or special occasions. Printed printed flags are a wonderful way of drawing attention and can be a profitable way of advertising for any exhibition. Colourful printed flags are attractive, economical to produce and ever popular.
One of the most popular times for hand wavers was during the last football world cup, where it appeared as though every person (and car, and house!) had a St Georges Cross flag.
Whether it’s the World Championship, the Premier League, or a local cup final, supporters with their paper flags, show their true dedication. That is why paper flags for supporters are the top choice of some of the biggest clubs and soccer leagues.
Paper flags are cheap to produce and can be ordered at unbelievably low give-away prices. A huge range of samples of paper flags are available as printers of paper flags will generally hold back a selection of items from each print run as examples. These will all relate to real world, fund raising campaigns, promotions, product launches, and sports teams events.
There is an amazing selection of designsto choose from for custom made paper flags because the print area is flat and a set size. The only boundaries are an individual’s imagination (and the size of the flag too of course).
They can be ordered in various quantities required as they are usually quick to manufacture and easy to deliver.
Obviously paper flags are great for other events, such as VIP visits, sales events and advertising. You can get printed flags with your own promotional message or custom printed logo on one or both sides and they can also be used as promotional giveaways. One of the values of using small hand held flags for different promotional events, is that they are very easy to produce in both large and small quantities at a very low cost. Because they are digitally printed there will be the best possible quality finish to the flags and reordering is a breeze.
In Conclusion
I am sure very few people will have given much thought to small hand held flags until there is an occasion when they want to make use of them. Then what happens? At one time people would have to go to a specialist store that stocked such things. Today, with the Internet all these things are so much easier as you just do a quick Google search.. Such has our world changed. Purchasers no longer have to make do with standard designs. They can select from a vast range of ready prepared ideas available, into which their personal messages can be incorporated.
A recent development in the environmentally friendly flag business is to use flag sticks made out of recycled paper which in addition to not being able to snap and create sharp points like the plastic versions, are also made of a diameter that is too large for children to cause damage if they stick them in their ears.
So do not be restricted by the images of small children waving little flags while royalty go by, and see what exciting and differing paper flag ideas you can come up with for your next promotional campaign.
5 Powerful Tips for Getting the Help You Need Online
Copyright 2006 Tony Mase
In his book “How to Get What You Want“, Wallace D. Wattles, best known for his classic masterpiece “The Science of Getting Rich”, talks about the importance of “making constructive use of the people and things in your environment” in getting what you want.
One way you make constructive use of the people and things in your environment is to get the help you need, when you need it.
If you spend any amount of time on the Internet, you’ll occasionally need someone’s help…
It might be help with an online purchase, technical support for a product, or some other kind of help.
Regardless of the kind of help you need…
The manner in which you ask for that help will determine the quality and the quantity of the help you receive now and in the future.
You see…
There are two ways you can ask for help online…
One is “constructive”…
The other is “destructive”.
When you ask for help in a constructive manner, you’ll get the help you need, when you need it, and you’ll “build” a relationship that’ll keep the door open for future help.
On the other hand…
When you ask for help in a destructive manner, although you might get the help you need this time, you’ll “destroy” any chance of a relationship and close the door to future help.
Based on the thousands of questions and support requests I’ve received and answered online, here are five powerful tips that’ll help you get the help you need, when you need it, and get it in a way that’ll leave the door wide open for future help:
Tip #1 - Don’t lead with your chin.
Leading with your chin is a great way to get knocked on your…
Well…
You fill in the blank. ![]()
The single most important thing you need to remember when you’re asking for help online, whether you’re asking by email or by filling out an online form, regardless of how angry or frustrated you might be, is that there’s a real “live” person on the other end…
A person who has “feelings” just like you do!
Including phrases in your first request for help like…
“Are you going to help me right now, right this minute, or are you going to give me my money back?”…
Or…
“I’m starting to think this is a scam!”…
Or…
“If I don’t hear back from you in one hour, I’m going to call my lawyer!”…
Might make you feel good, but they’ll virtually guarantee whatever help you do get right now will be minimal, at best, and your chances of getting anything other than minimal help from that person again in the future will be somewhere between slim and none.
Tip #2 - Be polite.
For some strange reason, one I’ve yet to figure out, many people seem to think the rules of simple, common courtesy don’t apply online…
Don’t you be one of them!
A request for help written in a polite tone, using “please” and “thank you”, will, more often than not, get you a prompt and courteous reply.
Tip #3 - DON’T SHOUT!!!
Whether you know it or not, typing your request for help in all capital letters is the online equivalent of shouting in the face of the person who receives it…
And…
The liberal use of multiple exclamation marks makes your shouting even louder and more emphatic!
Question for you…
Do you like it when someone shouts in your face?
Guess what?
Neither does anyone else! ![]()
Tip #4 - Keep your request short and to the point.
Most people doing business online don’t have the time to read long, drawn out messages trying to figure out what you need, nor do they have the time to keep writing you back over and over again trying to clarify what you need.
When you ask for help online, *always* include your name, contact information, order information, specific dates, specific details, and a clear, concise description of the help or information you need.
Avoid including any information that doesn’t directly contribute to helping the person you’re asking for help to give you the exact help you need.
Tip #5 - Say thank you.
After you’ve received the help you’ve asked for, a simple “thank you!” or “thanks, I appreciate your help!” will go a long way towards insuring the door will be wide open the next time you need that person’s help again.
Once again…
The single most important thing you need to remember when you’re asking for help online is that there’s a real “live” person on the other end.
Treat that person as you’d like to be treated and you’ll find as I have that, more often than not, you’ll get all the help you need, when you need it, and that person’s door will always be open to you should you need their help again.
Maternity Clothes - How to know what size to buy?
Pregnant? Congratulations! It is such an exciting time in your life to be expecting a child. There are so many thoughts running through your mind at the moment and one of them is probably how to know what size maternity clothes to buy.
Most pregnant women will start to out grow their normal clothes at around 12-14 weeks, so you will need to find some good maternity clothes that will fit you then and take you through your whole pregnancy. There is a huge range of maternity clothes out on the market these days so there is no need to feel frumpy while pregnant.
You don’t need to spend a fortune either there is a lot of very affordable and fashionable maternity clothes on the market. Even if you just invest in a few key pieces ie maternity jeans, tops, swimmers, work pants/skirt, feeding singlets and a party dress this should see you through your pregnancy comfortably. Don’t forget that you can always wear these key pieces for your subsequent pregnancies as well.
As a general rule you choose the same size of your normal clothes (before pregnancy size) in your maternity clothes (but as you know every make of clothing seems to have slightly different sizing guides).
All good maternity clothing should be shaped to cover your growing belly or have adjustable waists to allow for growth, it also has allowed for slight weight increases so the sizing is a bit bigger compared to your normal sizing. So generally your normal size before you were pregnant should be the size you will need to buy in maternity clothing. You may find that in some garments you will need to go up a dress size, but generally speaking you normal size should see you through.
Good luck with your pregnancy and the arrival of the little one!

As More Patients Survive Critical Premiums Rise
Summary
The result of improvements in medical science on Critical Illness policies. The benefits afforded by reviewable insurances.
payments for Critical Illness Insurance are growing due to the intensifying number of claims and concern about medical advances in the foreseeable future. As soon as you are diagnosed with a life threatening illness, CIC pays you a tax free lump sum, which will support you financially if you are off work due to illness.
Two large insurance companies will be putting up the price of critical illness insurance soon. Aviva’s payment will increase by 22 to 27 per cent and that of Standard Life by 23 per cent. These increases are minuscule in comparison with the 50 per cent imposed by Friends Provident and BUPA and the 65 per cent introduced by Norwich Union and Scottish Equitable. LV are still considering what increase they will enforce next month.
The insurance industry is in chaos as improvements in medical science assist patients to survive severe illnesses, which would have been life threatening only 10 years ago. The effect of this huge alteration in health insurance is that life insurance claims are decreasing whilst settlements on critical illness insurance policies have witnessed a sudden rise. Consequently the cost of life cover is going down, while that of critical illness insurance is growing quickly.
In an effort to keep the price of premiums down, the Association of British Insurers has altered the circumstances under which cover is given for heart problems and prostrate cancer.
Many patients are now discovering that speedy recognition of these conditions results in longer life expectancy. The illnesses under which Critical Insurance Cover policies pay out are being redefined. This change will help to decrease the amount of claims and subsequently slow down the speed at which payments are rising. (For instance), critical illness cover will only pay out for skin cancer if it is invasive)
Karl Peters of broker’s Click Compare says that critical illness policies currently cover illnesses, which are simpler to diagnose and treat. Claims are consequently being settled for non-life threatening illnesses, which is not the point of the insurance
.
A review of the terms of many insurance policies is probable in the foreseeable future. CIC for diabetes is being removed by Standard Life, which leaves BUPA as the only insurance company that incorporates this illness.
Reviewable life assurance are at present being given by a growing amount of insurance companies. Illnesses and pay outs covered by these policies are reviewed every 4 years. A normal Critical Illness Insurance is a cast iron insurance, which carries on for a fixed number of years. The premiums stay the constant whilst the insurance is in place, which is normally the term of their mortgage. However this kind of insurance is becoming more pricey.
The Group Director of Friends Providents’s independent financial adviser division, Justin Myers says that you have to pay the price for the assurance that a guaranteed insurance policy offers. He adds that people are much more likely to decide on a renewable rather than a guaranteed insurance policy as the rise in costexpands. While Aviva raises it’s CIC it is also launching a reviewable policy therefore giving customers a choice. Royal London has withdrawn it’s guaranteed CIChave a guaranteed policy. He advises that if you don’t already have cover it would be wise to take it out soon,| before, any more changes are introduced.
Treating and Preventing Wrinkled Skin
The condition of our skin tells a lot about who we are. If it is not that elastic or as thinner as before, then you may already have wrinkled skin. The question now is, can we get skin wrinkle treatment. A lot of experts believe that we are only delaying the inevitable. There have been advances in the dermatological field which people can use as well as home remedies that have proven to be quite effective.
You can use lifecell wrinkle cream or facial creams that contain AHA or alpha - hydroxic acids. This contains Vitamin A and is usually extracted from milk, fruits and sugar cane and works by clearing away dead cells on the surface of the skin. It encourages collagen growth which fills in the wrinkles and also counteracts free radicals that can damage the skin. The only side effect is skin irritation which happens on occasion. You can test the product you are using by rubbing a little of this on a small patch of skin behind the ear. If it doesn’t turn red the day after then it is safe for you to use.
You should also exfoliate your skin twice weekly to remove dead and dry skin cells and encourage the body to produce new skin cells. This enables the skin to absorb the cream or the moisturizer better since it is hydrated. You can prevent wrinkles the natural way by cutting a piece from an aloe vera plant and then apply this to the skin as the leaf itself contains malic acid. Papaya is another good example to use because it contains enzymes that can etch away the top layer of the skin.
Apply a moisturizer every morning after washing as this helps retain moisture in the skin. Ideally, this should contain SPF30 so it can protect you from the sun’s ultra-violet rays which also cause wrinkles to appear. A natural method would be to use fresh avocado as this contains vitamin E which is an anti-oxidant. Aside from applying lifecell cream to your face, you can also prevent wrinkles by watching your diet and drinking lots of water. The food you consume should be rich in Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that will help you achieve healthy skin cell structure.
You should also exercise regularly as this helps maintain general health and improve circulation to the skin. You shouldn’t smoke or drink too much because it defeats the purpose of all the safeguards you have done to prevent wrinkles. Stress forces us to make excessive use of the facial muscles which causes the skin to crease into expression lines. To prevent that from happening, don’t frown too much or raise your eye brows in surprise.

Finding a great solicitor
Have you heard of the terms no win no fee solicitors? You may have heard about them on various radio and tv ads. They are also in newspapers. Moreover, you may also see them scattered on the internet. No win no fee is a general term. In fact, if you will try to Google these words, you will see about two million results. If you have not heard of it before, let me elaborate.
This term is normally affiliated with personal injury solicitors Liverpooland claims. Your claim becomes a no win no fee when a solicitor takes on it under an agreement that if he loses the case , you dont owe him anything. He will only bill you if he wins the case. This is common in English law — the loser will pay off the costs of the one who wins the case. Hence, you will be able to spare yourself from spending a huge amount of cash if the case will not be victorious.
In some cases, the claimant acquires a 100% compensation, although this is not always the case. Criminal injury compensation claims and clinical negligence claims wouldn’t give 100% recompense, although the solicitor can provide a no win no fee service .Looking for a personal injury lawyer or solicitor is critical. As much as feasible, do not just go for the first person that you will communicate with.
TV, radio, newspaper, yellow pages and internet ads can look tempting but there is no guarantee that they will be the best for you. Most of the time, a genuine attorney does not advertise himself too much because he gets customers by other customers refering him. This also applies to a good no win no fee solicitors firm.
How to Get Rid of Credit Card Debt
Credit Card Debt is affecting the lives of tens of thousands of U.S. consumers during this economic downturn. The country will pull out of this slump and rebound strongly as it always does. However, the strains of debt on those who are having a hard time making ends meet can weigh strong on the minds of many. Unfortunately, for many, Getting rid of unsecured debt with as little personal financial damage as possible is the only way to survive these hard times.
What can be done to accomplish this?
Debt relief is what many need today. The vast majority of debt can be eliminated in two ways. Both programs have their advantages and disadvantages and personal circumstances will determine which is right for any particular individual. The blame for these personal circumstances can be pointed in many directions. The current state of the economy is one argument many make in blaming their situation. Credit card companies are frequently blamed for the historic rise in credit card debt today. And then there are the consumers themselves who should consider that their debt issues are their own fault above any other excuse. Regardless of the cause, the damage has been done and solutions to the problems are what many need now.
Consumers have two of the most common ways of unsecured debt settlement at their disposal today. One of the most widely known debt relief programs is bankruptcy. Bankruptcy is heavily advertised when the economy is strong or weak, however, bankruptcy carries many serious side-effects and should only be considered as a last resort when dealing with credit card debt. The repercussions from filing for bankruptcy include: the virtual destruction of one’s credit record, the near inability to obtain future credit for up to 10 years, the inability to rent an apartment in one’s own name, being forced to pay possibly very high deposits on things like cable and satellite television, Internet, home phones and common utilities like gas, electricity and water. finally, the embarrassing possibility of being rejected for a job or promotion, as more and more employers these days are conducting credit checks as part of their normal screening for new job hires.
A less intrusive form of debt relief is debt settlement. Debt settlement is considered a more effective form of debt relief. Debt settlement works by having a debt settlement firm negotiate on behalf of the consumer with their creditors to facilitate an agreed upon reduction of the amount of credit card debt which the consumer owes. Debt settlement programs can reduce a consumers debt by 50% to 75% of the outstanding debt balance on unsecured accounts. Debt settlement is much easier on your credit ratings and does not carry the stigma or repercussions of bankruptcy. Of the two a negotiated debt settlement is the winner over bankruptcy almost every time.
The Most Popular Wedding Invitations Ideas
Your wedding invitation is your first chance to set the tone for your event. The style that you choose will give your guests a sneak peek into what your wedding will be like, especially if you have a special theme. One of the best ways to personalize your wedding invitations is with a signature motif.
There are many types of motifs or groomsmen gifts (the possibilities are infinite, actually), and a variety of ways in which to use them to add character to your wedding stationery. First think about the basics of your wedding. Will it be formal? Then choose a very small motif. Have it either engraved in gold ink or blind embossed for even more subtlety. A formal wedding calls for a traditional and symmetrical invitation, as well, so you will want to place your motif on the top border of your invitation, right in the center.
Less formal weddings can accommodate more eclectic uses of motifs. You could even choose stationery which has your design printed on it, and the invitation wording printed on a vellum overlay. For example, if you were having a destination wedding, complete with a breezy wedding gown and beach wedding jewelry, a fantastic invitation would be an image of a sandy beach or a large tropical flower. If the invitation or bridal jewelry shows the beach scene, tie the vellum layer on with a piece of raffia, or use a pretty fuchsia ribbon over the tropical flower image. Your guests will really get the beach wedding feeling, and start packing their most festive attire and jewelry in eager anticipation.
A simple way to use a pretty design for a semi-formal wedding is to print, engrave, or letterpress it onto the paper in a color. You can really have a lot of fun picking your motif. Choose one that ties in directly with your wedding theme, or select a design that reflects something personal. A good example of this diy wedding invitations would be a monogram or a family crest (either real, or invented). Or if the bride and groom are both Texans, a small image of a pair of cowboy boots would be fun on the invitations. You can also design an entirely custom motif that will start on your wedding stationery and be carried throughout the rest of the wedding.
